Taliban Burned 109 Musical Instruments in Laghman

In Laghman province, under Taliban control, the Bakhtar News Agency reported that the Department of Promotion of Virtue’s enforcers burned 109 musical instruments in the Alingar district.
The report added that over the past month, these instruments were collected by the enforcers from various areas of the district during people’s celebrations, on the pretext of playing music, and then destroyed by fire.
Previously, officials from the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue stated that in the past year, they had burned 21,328 musical instruments across the country and arrested many people accused of playing or listening to music.
Recently, the enforcers from the Department of Promotion of Virtue have also arrested and imprisoned numerous young people in different parts of the country on charges related to music.
The Taliban have imposed a nationwide ban on playing and listening to music, considering it contrary to Islamic Sharia law.
Following this ban, people have complained that their celebrations have become dull and lifeless without music, and that the Taliban’s strict restrictions have taken away the joy of ordinary people.
