Taliban Detained Several Individuals in Kabul Over Film Dubbing

Local sources report that the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, in coordination with their intelligence agency, has arrested several production company heads and staff members in Kabul on charges of dubbing what they claim are “un-Islamic” films and TV series.
The sources add that the number of detainees exceeds ten, and they have been transferred to prison. Their families say they have received no information about their whereabouts or legal status.
Meanwhile, Saif ul-Islam Khyber, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, confirmed the arrests. He stated that the individuals were detained for dubbing films that allegedly go against “Islamic values,” and that their workplaces have been shut down. He further noted that the dubbed content was being sent to television channels outside Afghanistan.
Just a few days earlier, Taliban agents in Laghman also arrested a social media activist, who remains imprisoned without charge or trial.
These developments come as the Taliban intensify their monitoring of media and social networks and have recently banned the publication of images of living beings in 20 provinces across the country.
