The U.S. Department of State has strongly condemned the Taliban’s decision to ban girls from studying in health institutes in Afghanistan. The Department called the move an "unjustifiable attack" on women’s access to education and healthcare, pledging to support Afghan women and girls in their fight for equal participation in society.

“The international community must remain united and vocal in condemning these actions,” the statement declared.

The Taliban’s decision has drawn criticism from international organizations and human rights advocates. U.N. experts warned that banning women from health education endangers women’s lives and poses a threat to public health.

Since regaining power in 2021, the Taliban have restricted women’s rights, barring them from secondary and higher education, limiting employment, and enforcing strict social rules. The latest ban has sparked calls for international action, with human rights groups urging greater accountability and sanctions against Taliban leaders.
