At Least 600 Casualties Reported in Pakistani Airstrikes on Afghanistan
Pakistan, continuing its air campaign, carried out strikes on Tuesday night targeting parts of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, as well as areas in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces.
The Taliban have officially confirmed the attacks, stating that Pakistani fighter jets struck a 2,000-bed drug rehabilitation hospital named “Omid” in the Charkhi Pul area of Kabul. According to their statement, at least 450 people were killed and more than 300 others injured in the strike.
According to available information, around 2,000 people were receiving treatment at the facility at the time of the attack. However, following the bombardment, large sections of the hospital were destroyed, and many victims’ bodies were reportedly reduced to ashes.
Rescue teams remain at the scene, working to recover the wounded and retrieve bodies from the rubble. The death toll is expected to rise as operations continue.
Outside the destroyed hospital, grieving families are searching for their missing relatives. While some have been able to locate their loved ones, many remain unaccounted for.
Eyewitnesses reported widespread destruction and fires in the area following the strike. Local residents described the bombardment as unprecedented, saying it has left the community in a state of fear and distress.
In addition to Kabul, Pakistani jets also targeted several districts in Nangarhar and Kunar provinces.
Sources indicate that the strikes hit Nangarhar Airport, as well as the districts of Khogyani, Achin, and Shinwar, along with areas near the border, resulting in further civilian casualties.
The attacks have prompted widespread domestic and international reactions, with many observers condemning them as a “war crime.”
