Six Killed and 15 Injured in Nangarhar Floods

Officials from the Taliban’s Department of Information and Culture in Nangarhar say that heavy rainfall last night triggered floods in the districts of Achin, Spin Ghar, Rodat, Chaparhar, and Haska Mina (Deh Bala), leaving six people dead — including two children — and injuring 15 others.
According to a statement issued by the department, in Spin Ghar district the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rain, killing two young girls from one family and injuring three other members of the household.
The statement added that in the districts of Rodat, Achin, and Chaparhar, four more people were killed and 12 others injured during the floods. In addition to the human toll, dozens of houses were destroyed, while thousands of acres of farmland and standing crops were damaged.
Local sources said that many people were rescued by residents, though some remain missing, and search efforts are ongoing.
Meanwhile, flood-affected families are calling on authorities and aid organizations for urgent assistance, warning that without immediate support, survivors will face severe hardship.
This year has been particularly deadly in Afghanistan not only due to ongoing crises but also because of repeated natural disasters. Just weeks earlier, floods in other provinces of the country also claimed dozens of lives and caused extensive financial losses.
