Red Pashmina Walk Held in Lisbon to Support Afghan Girls

A group of activists in Lisbon, Portugal, held the “Red Pashmina Walk” on Sunday, May 4, to support girls’ education in Afghanistan.
Participants began their walk at 9:30 a.m. (Western European Time) from the historic Praça do Comércio and continued to the Belém Cultural Center (CCB).
The event’s announcement had stated: “The Red Pashmina Walk is a a global movement of solidarity with the girls of Afghanistan who have been denied access to school, silenced in public life, and stripped of their basic rights."
Organizers had invited everyone to wear red and join the walk to show their support for Afghan girls.
They had emphasized: “While Afghan girls are being silenced, we have the freedom to raise our voices. Every step we take sends a clear message: we have not forgotten them. We will not remain silent.
