Amnesty International Supported Afghan and Palestinian Women in Madrid Concert

Amnesty International Spain held a free concert in Madrid on Friday, September 26, to show its support and solidarity with women in Afghanistan and Palestine. The event brought together over 500 citizens and civil activists.
The concert aimed to break the silence regarding the “genocide” of women, girls, and civilians in Gaza, as well as the “gender apartheid” faced by women in Afghanistan.
Esteban Beltrán, director of Amnesty International Spain, told the media, “Through music and words, we want to draw the world’s attention to the two places causing the greatest suffering for women.”
The concert featured performances by Rosalén, a renowned Spanish singer-songwriter, along with several choirs from Madrid. A song based on Nadia Anjuman’s poem “No Desire to Open My Mouth” was also performed.
In addition to the musical performances, Khadija Amin, an Afghan journalist, and Maria Faedi, a Palestinian-Spanish activist, spoke about the challenges faced by women and children in these two countries.
The organizers said the goal of the event was “to remind everyone of their responsibility regarding human rights violations and to use music as a common language for solidarity.” According to media reports, the concert created an atmosphere combining art, resistance, and social advocacy.
