“The Sharp Edge of Peace” Won Best Film at Asian Film Festival Barcelona

The documentary “The Sharp Edge of Peace”, directed by Roya Sadat, won Best Film in the Special Section at the Casa Asia - Asian Film Festival Barcelona (AFFBCN).

Produced by Leslie Thomas as a joint effort of Roya Film House and Mira Studio, the film highlighted the peace negotiations between the U.S. and the Taliban from the perspective of Afghan women negotiators.

Roya Film House described the award as "not only a tribute to Afghanistan’s cinema, but also a reflection of the strength and resilience of Afghan women."

The film, which began production in 2020 and was completed in 2024, had previously been introduced at the United Nations by Hollywood actress Meryl Streep and screened at international festivals in Canada and India.
