Taliban arrest eight people, including one woman, in Logar on charges of "immoral conduct"
The Taliban's Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice announced the arrest of eight individuals, including one woman, in Logar’s Baraki Barak district on charges of "illicit relations" and "immoral conduct."
The ministry stated on Monday, November 11th, via the social platform X, that the arrests were made in Qala-e Shah Ghasi village by officials from the ministry.
The Taliban’s virtue ministry provided no further details regarding the specific allegations against the detainees.
Since enacting its virtue laws, the Taliban has conducted an increasing number of arrests across Afghanistan, often citing moral or religious grounds. Previously, the group has detained several individuals in Kabul and other provinces on similar charges, sparking concerns from human rights organizations over arbitrary detentions and lack of due process.
