45 U.S.-backed organizations suspended in Afghanistan
Sources in Kabul have reported that the activities of 45 U.S.-supported organizations operating in 28 provinces of Afghanistan have been suspended.
While the names of these organizations have not been disclosed, they were primarily involved in healthcare and humanitarian aid. The suspension is said to last three months, with employees placed on leave.
This is not the first time the Taliban have halted NGO operations, as similar restrictions have been imposed in the past.
The move comes amid a new executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump, temporarily halting U.S. foreign aid for 90 days.
