A resident of Nangarhar province, identified as Gulbuddin, has accused local Taliban officials of extortion. Gulbuddin, who currently works as a guard at the district hospital, claims that the hospital’s head, Zinatullah, has been forcibly taking money from him under the pretext of “tax and protection fees.”

A video of Gulbuddin has surfaced on social media, showing him in distress, crying and pleading about how the money he earns through hard labor is being taken away by the hospital official.

So far, Taliban authorities in Nangarhar have not commented on the allegations.

Previously, several business owners in Nangarhar also accused the Taliban of demanding monthly payments as a form of extortion, threatening them with death if they refused to comply.
