"We Rise Together": A musical call for solidarity with Afghan women

On March 8, International Women's Day, the Afghanistan National Institute of Music (ANIM) released the song "We Rise Together" as a powerful artistic and cultural stand against the suppression of women under Taliban rule.
Performed by the Afghan Youth Orchestra and vocalists from the group, the song serves as ANIM’s musical plea for justice, awareness, and advocacy in response to the widespread violations of women's rights in Afghanistan.
In an official statement, ANIM emphasized that the piece honors the resilience, perseverance, and struggle of Afghan women in their pursuit of fundamental rights, freedom, and equality.
"This work represents our commitment to supporting the women and girls of Afghanistan and reinforces the truth that the fight for justice and equality is a collective responsibility shared by all Afghans," the statement read.
With the release of "We Rise Together," ANIM has also called upon Afghan men to stand in solidarity with women and actively participate in the fight for their fundamental rights.
