Taliban imprison nearly 20 women in Khost for not observing hijab
Local sources report that the Taliban have arrested and imprisoned nearly 20 women in the provincial capital of Matun for allegedly not observing the hijab. The women, detained from a women's market, have been held for over a week, sparking concerns among their families.
One source, speaking anonymously, confirmed that some of the arrested women were shopkeepers from the market. Despite efforts by family members to secure their release, the Taliban have refused to grant their requests.
Taliban officials have yet to comment on the arrests, which come amid an escalating crackdown on women's rights. In recent months, the Taliban has imposed increasingly strict laws on women and girls, with many imprisoned under vague charges related to morality and dress code violations.
