UN Announces Third Doha Meeting on Afghanistan for June 30, Invites Taliban to participate

The United Nations has announced that the third Doha meeting will be held on June 30 for two days, featuring the presence of special representatives from various countries focusing on Afghanistan. According to the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, the aim of this meeting is to "increase international interaction with Afghanistan in a coherent and structured manner."

In a recent press briefing, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric mentioned that the Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, recently visited Kabul. During her visit, she met with Taliban authorities, the diplomatic community, and representatives of civil society. DiCarlo extended an advance invitation from the UN Secretary-General to the Taliban’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaqi, inviting him to participate in the upcoming meeting of Special Envoys.
