Taliban leader bans windows overlooking neighbouring homes
Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, has issued a new decree prohibiting the construction of windows overlooking neighboring homes where women might be visible.
On Saturday, December 30, Akhundzada issued a five-article directive mandating that women in neighboring houses must not be visible from windows. The decree states that any existing windows facing neighboring properties must be sealed with walls.
This regulation applies retroactively, requiring homeowners of previously built houses to comply. The Taliban claims the directive aims to "preserve privacy and protect women from potential harm."
Municipalities and other relevant authorities have been instructed to enforce the rule strictly and prevent such windows in future construction projects.
Critics argue this measure intensifies restrictions on women and imposes unnecessary economic burdens on citizens, further limiting personal freedoms under the Taliban regime.
