The book “Marzia: A Judge’s Fight for Afghan Women’s Rights”, written by former Afghan judge and women’s rights advocate Marzia Babakarkhail, was launched at an event held in the UK Parliament.
Members of the UK Parliament Debbie Abrahams, Harpreet Uppal and Wendy Chamberlain attended the event, alongside several Afghan women’s rights and human rights figures, including Shukria Barakzai, Fawzia Koofi, Kamila Sediqi, Samira Hamidi and Horia Mosadiq.

During the event, the participating MPs highlighted the importance of continued engagement on Afghanistan and maintaining international attention on the country’s situation. Wendy Chamberlain also said she would follow up on the recent meeting of the UK Special Representative for Afghanistan.
The book presents the life and professional career of Judge Marzia Babakarkhail, who served for more than 30 years in Afghanistan’s judicial system and worked on issues related to women’s rights.
The event highlighted the importance of preserving Afghan women’s voices and sustaining international support for their rights and freedoms.
