Taliban bans live broadcasting of political programs, says journalist protection group
The Organization for the Protection of Afghan Journalists reported on Sunday that the Taliban has imposed a ban on live broadcasts of political programs in Afghanistan. According to the group, Taliban officials are now instructing media outlets to feature only "experts and trusted people" approved by the regime for political discussions.
The journalist protection group condemned the move as a violation of free speech and media censorship. They called on human rights organizations and press freedom advocates to oppose the Taliban's increasing restrictions on media.
Additionally, the Taliban has prohibited any content critical of its policies and provided a list of 68 pre-approved individuals to be featured as political commentators on Afghan media.
