Germany plans to deport Afghan immigrants with criminal records
German authorities, led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, are working to deport Afghan immigrants with criminal backgrounds. During a recent trip to Central Asia, the two officials met with Uzbekistan's President in Samarkand to discuss cooperation in deporting Afghan migrants deemed a security threat.
While the primary focus of the trip is to strengthen economic relations with the region, the German government is seeking to arrange deportation flights for Afghan immigrants, requiring the cooperation of at least one regional country. Germany has already deported 28 Afghans with criminal histories to Afghanistan, in collaboration with Qatar.
This move follows the death of a German police officer in an attack by an Afghan refugee, prompting Interior Minister Faeser to announce that migrants posing a security risk to Germany will face deportation.
